Day 1 ….
Leave Cape Town, via the Paarl Wine lands, through the Du Toits Kloof Pass and the Huguenot Tunnel to Worcester. Travel through Robertson to Montague and its natural springs before going on through the Apricot / Pear Orchards. Route 62 takes us between the mountains, picturesque valleys, through the Klein Karoo to Oudtshoorn – the mecca of the South African ostrich farming. We will have lunch after a tour through the Safari Show Ranch , and a ride on the fastest animal on two legs, the ostrich. Enjoy an Ostich steak . After lunch we will take you to the most famous and the most beautiful drip-stone caves in the world, the “Cango-Caves”. You may opt for an optional visit to the cheetah crocodile ranch, just outside Oudtshoorn. When completed we will drive over the picturesque Outeniqua Pass to George / Wilderness for an overnight stay in a delightful Guesthouse at the edge of the Indian Ocean – alternatively we can stay overnight at an ostrich farm .
Day 2….
We board the Outeniqua Choo Tjoe, a Steam Train for an unforgettable ride over five lakes, five riversa and two estuaries, from George through the Wilderness to Knysna. Take a boat ride on the picturesque lagoon, the home of the Chameleon – Sea horse. Lunch will be held at the Knysna lagoon. Visit the Garden of Eden and continue your journey to Plettenberg Bay, “The Pearl of the Garden route”. Overnight at the Keurboom River Lodge Protea Hotel at the Bay.
Day 3….
Visit Plettenberg Bay , “The Pearl of the Garden Route” . Continue Along the shores of the Indian Ocean to Port Elizabeth and through to the Addo Elephant National Park, home of the unique species of Elephant, where the female elephant has no tusks. There are approx. 300 of these Elephants in the park, as well as Rhino and Buffalo. Enjoy an evening game drive before dinner. Stay overnight in this wonderful natural wilderness .
Day 4….
The Shamwari Game Reserve, committed to game preservation and the preservation of natural surroundings is situated between Port Elizabeth and Grahamstown. Shamwari is turning back the pages of history by reintroducing the “Big Five”.
Visit Khaya Lendaba, an African CulturalVillage Enjoy a game drive in open landrovers @ Schotia , watch Lions on the hunt , a true National Geographics Dream , see wildlife including Rhinos Elephants and Antelope. Close off a wonderful day with a traditional Bushbraai . Overnight in Port Elizabeth in the Marine or Beach Protea Hotel on the beach at Summer strand, overlooking the Algoa Bay.
Day 5….
Leave Port Elizabeth to visit the Tsitsikamma Rain Forest , walk over the Storms River Mouth Suspension Bridge , check out the giants of the rain forrest, the great Outeniqua Yellow wood Trees , cheek out the World Record Bungy Jump at the Bloukrans River Bridge . Continue through Natures Valley to Plettenberg Bay , check out the bay for dolphins , before continuing our journey to Knysna – Wilderness where we shall overnight.
Day 6….
After breakfast we will proceed on to Mosselbay for a historical tour through the Bartholomew Dias Complex where we will board the replica of the Caraval. The early navigators used to sail into this bay anno 1488. Visit the historical Post Office Tree. Continue to Swellendam, having lunch and exploring this wonderful historical town, with all its unique architecture. Continue to Cape Town via Hermanus (South-Africa’s Whale mecca), via the “Reviera of the Cape” to the Mother City , arrive there at about 17h30 .
This must be one of the most beautiful tours of all of South Africa. You will see what is often referred to as the “Floral Kingdom of the World”. Beautiful seascapes, tremendous indigenous Forests, diverse cultures, and the best undisturbed wildlife of South Africa .
NOTE: No Prophylaxes have to be taken against the dreaded Malaria Parasite, as it is a Malaria free area.
